Cultural and sports events


If you intend to participate in a cultural or sport event in Norway/Schengen for maximum 90 days, you are advised to apply for a Schengen Visa (short-term visa) at the application portal and submit supporting documents/passports in accordance to the list of required documents for cultural and sports events.

Visa Fees

Please Note:
Applicants should register their applications online using the Application Portal and pay the application fee with a credit/debit card (MasterCard or Visa card). The visa fee will be charged in EUR. Other fees will be charged in NOK.

Application fees applicable as of 01 February 2020:

Short-stay Visa:

Schengen visa (maximum 90 days): 80 EUR

Visa for children between 6 and 12 years: 40 EUR

    The fee is waived for visa applicants in any of the following categories:

  • Children under 6 years
  • School pupils, students, post-graduate students and accompanying teachers who undertake trips for the purpose of study or educational training
  • Researchers from third countries travelling for the purpose of carrying out scientific research, as per specific rules.
  • There is no fee for processing appeals.

Courier Service Fee, including courier charge collection; manual bill preparation; information capture; courier packaging etc. (optional) – 75 RMB per person (inclusive of Service Taxes)

Courier Service Fee for Mongolian applicants, including courier charge collection; manual bill preparation; information capture; courier packaging etc. (optional) – 200 RMB per person (inclusive of Service Taxes)

Please note: the logistic fees can be paid in cash, by Wechat Pay, Credit Card and Debit Card at visa application centre.

Documents Required

Prepare all the necessary documents listed below before you deliver the application, The application will be evaluated based on the submitted documents. All documents must be presented in original, but will be returned to the applicant if copy is provided. This includes notarized documents, insurance, guarantee form, etc.

The documents required in English/Norwegian version will be marked in the following list.

Note: The application should be submitted in the following order:

Document requirements (A4 format) (所需材料 ,A4纸尺寸)  

Attention: All documents must be presented in original, and it may be returned to the applicant if copy is provided. The applicant has to meet in person when delivering the documents. 

One passport photo: Not older than six months (color, 4x5cm, white background). The photo must not be edited.

一张护照照片:6个月内 (彩照,4x5cm,白色背景),不能修图。
Original invitation letter on official paper from the organizer of the event of the country of destination (Norway), signed and stamped. Mentioning:

  • Purpose, duration and detailed program and itinerary of the stay
  • An indication of the costs of the study/sport and entity who will pay for them
  • Indication of lodging during the period of the intended stay

  • 访问目的、访问时间、详细日程及行程单
  • 注明访问所需费用以及为申请人支付该费用的单位
  • 注明访问期间的住所
Original letter from Chinese cultural /sports organization on official paper, signed and stamped. Mentioning:

  • Full address and contacts of the organization
  • Name and position of the countersigning officer
  • Name, position, salary and years of employment
  • Confirmation of participation
  • Entity that will pay for the costs of travel and living
  • A sealed copy of the company business license or organization code
  • Students: Student card and original letter from the school mentioning full address, contacts of school, permission for absence, name and function of the person giving the permission
The original letter must be translated into English.


  • 完整的机构地址和联系方式
  • 签字人姓名和职位
  • 申请人姓名、职位、工资及工作年限
  • 确认参加证明
  • 为申请人提供旅行和生活费用的单位
  • 加盖公章的营业执照或组织机构代码复印件
  • 在校学生:学生证复印件以及使用学校正式信头纸并加盖公章且签字的证明信原件,包括完整的学校地址、联系方式,准假证明以及准假人姓名和职能。
For Minors:

  • Notary certificate of family relationship or proof of guardianship (i.e. birth certificate), legalized by Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing. Original + 1 copy.
  • Letter of employment from parent(s) or legal guardians
  • If the minor is traveling alone or with only one parent, notary certificate of permission to travel from both parents or legal guardians, legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing. Original + 1 copy.
  • When parent/parents/guardians is/are not in China, attested by the relevant authorities in the parents’/legal guardians’ country of residence.
All original documents must be translated into English. 未成年人:

  • 家庭关系或监护证明公证(如出生证明),需由北京外交部认证,原件+1份复印件。
  • 父母或法定监护人的在职证明
  • 如未成年人单独出行或与父母一方出行时,需由父母双方或法定监护人出具出行同意书公证,需由北京外交部认证。原件+1份复印件。
  • 当父(母)或法定监护人不在中国时,证明应由父(母)或法定监护人居住国开具。
Proof of solvency: Bank statement from the last 3 months.

  • For Minors: Bank statement from parent(s). If minors travelling alone: signed payment statement (in English) from parent(s) or legal guardians (no notarization) is needed.
偿付能力证明: 最近3个月的银行对账单。

  • 未成年人需提交父(母)或法定监护人的银行对账单。若成年人单独旅行,还需提供父(母)或法定监护人签字的同意支付费用声明 (英语,无需公证)。
Passports: new and old. New passport valid at least 3 months after expiry of visa, containing minimum two blank pages and issued within the previous ten years. Copy of bio data page in the passports (old and new).

Hukou: Copy of all used pages (no translation).Only for Chinese nationals.

For other nationals: Copy of valid Chinese residence permit.


Travel medical insurance for the duration of the stay in the Schengen area with a minimum coverage of EURO 30.000.

Power of Attorney -Optional for applicants who want others to represent/assist them in the case.

For other nationals: copy of valid Chinese residence permit.

Note: The Embassy/Consulate reserves the right to request additional information/documentation and, if deemed necessary, to interview the applicant.

According to article 20 of the Visa Code, all passports, except diplomatic and service/official passports, shall be stamped by the Embassy/Consulate showing the date and place of submitting the visa application. However, this stamp has no legal implications.

A visa issued by a Schengen country permits free movement within the Schengen area, unless otherwise stated on the visa sticker. However, please note that according to article 47 (i) of the Visa Code mere possession of a visa does not confer an automatic right to entry and that the holders of visa are requested to present proof that they fulfil the entry conditions at the external border, as provided for in Article 5 of the Schengen Borders Code.

Competent Embassy or Consulate General:

The Embassy or Consulate General of the country of your main destination is the competent authority to deal with the application. If the main destination cannot be determined, the application should be made to the Embassy or Consulate General of the country which the longest visit shall be. If the visits in different Schengen countries are of equal length, the first destination shall be the determining factor.

Photo Specifications

All photos must meet the requirements listed below. If these requirements have not been met, the applicant will have to deliver a new photo that meets the requirements. The photo requirements are the same for children as for adults.

The Photo shall:

  • be in sharp focus, clear and with good contrasts
  • be printed on quality photo paper with high solution
  • be in colours with a light background
  • be 2 inch photo(refer to the photo size on the passport)
  • maximum 6 months old, resemble the applicant
  • full-face, facing the camera directly, eyes looking straight at the camera
  • show the whole head and the top of the shoulders. The face shall occupy 70-80 % of the picture(refer to the photo size on the passport)
  • show open eyes that are clearly visible. Hair shall not cover the eyes
  • be genuine and not be edited in any revision software e.g. Photoshop

Regarding glasses:

    Glasses are allowed as long as the eyes are clearly visible.

  • the glasses cannot be coloured
  • the rim must not cover any part of the eyes
  • there cannot be reflection in the glasses

Regarding head-dress:

    Religious head-dresses are allowed provided that all details of the face are clearly shown.

  • Chin, forehead and both cheeks shall all be clearly visible
  • Shadows in the face due to the head-dress are not allowed

Processing Time

According to Schengen regulations (Visa Code), visa applications shall (as a main rule) be decided on within 15 calendar days. The Visa Section is normally able to process an application within a shorter period.
