    Please be informed that as approved by the South African Government,

    With effect from January 2015, BRICS Business Executives (CEOs, Presidents, Vice/Deputy Presidents, Chairpersons, Directors of Company) can apply for 10-year Multiple Entry Visa with 30 days on each visit.

    Notice for Change of Passport Collection

    Effective 21 November 2016, the procedure for passport collection is changed as below:

    • Please ensure to carry the original acknowledgement receipt and any original Government Photo ID proof** when you visit the VAC for collection. (**Foreign passport holders (Non-Chinese) need to submit the copy of passport bio page)
    • If representative collecting the passport on behalf of the applicant, they should submit the original acknowledgement receipt, authorization letter signed by the applicant (original or copy) along with any original Government Photo ID proof of the representative.
    • If travel agent collecting the passport on behalf of the applicant, they should carry the original acknowledgement receipt, the authorization letter from travel agent and the Official Courier Certificate issued by National Tourism Bureau or any original Government Photo ID proof.
    • Upon receipt of the passport, please check the information on the visa label including Name, Passport Number, Visa Expiry Date, Number of Entries, Visa Type, Conditions and Visa Officer’s Signature. In case of any incorrect information printed on visa page, please contact the VAC staff immediately.

    Notice for Submission of Certified Identity Document of South African Inviter for all SA Visa Application Centres

    Please be informed that from 01 September 2016, all the SA inviter’s identity (Copy of SA Passport / Copy of SA Identity Card / Copy of SA Permanent Residence Permit / Copy of Passport Biopage +Long-term Visa), must be certified by the SA police station or Department of Home Affairs in 3 months.

    Notice regarding Multiple Entry Visas for BRICS Business Executives and Bona Fide

    Please be informed that as approved by the South African Government,

    1. With effect from January 2015, BRICS Business Executives (CEOs, Chairmen and Presidents) can apply for 10-year Multiple Entry Visa with 30 days on each visit.
    2. With effect from October 2015, Bona Fide frequent travellers to South Africa on business, academics and tourist can apply for up to 03 years Multiple Entry Visa with maximum 90 days on each visit.

    Notice for No Requirement of Transit Visa for Travelling to Six Neighboring Countries via South Africa

    As informed by the Embassy of South Africa in Beijing and the Consulate of South Africa in Shanghai, Transit Visa for travelling through OR Tambo International, Cape Town International, King Shaka International Airports and Lanseria to the six neighbouring countries (Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Swaziland, Mozambique and Zimbabwe) is no longer required with effect from 04 January 2016. Therefore, South Africa Visa Application Centre Beijing and Chengdu, Shanghai and Guangzhou will not accept any transit visa application from today, 04 January 2016.

    Notice for submission of ID copy of Agent or Representative who submit applications on behalf of applicant

    Please be informed that the agent or representative who submit visa application on behalf of applicant should attach copy of his/her’ ID or passport bio page to the application. This requirement is not applicable to ADS group application submission.

    Kindly note that this is only applicable to the Beijing and Chengdu Visa Application Centres under Beijing Jurisdiction, will come into effect on 04 January 2016.

    Port of Entry Visa Fee (Visitors , Transit, Medical, Retired, Relative, Exchange, Study and Treaty) are now CNY 220.00

    Long term Visas (Business, Intra-company, Critical Skills and General Work Visas) are now CNY 787.00

    Please take note that service fee CNY 260 remains unchanged.

    South Africa Visa Application Centre – Shanghai will be relocated from 25 May 2015

    Please be informed that the South Africa Visa Application Centre – Shanghai will be relocated to a new location for submission of visa applications and for collection of the processed visa application result. Effective 25 May 2015, applicants need to visit the new South Africa Visa Application Centre located at “3rd Floor, Jiushi Commercial Building, 213 Sichuan Middle Road, Huangpu District, Shanghai, China”.

    Please be informed that from 8 December 2014, South Africa Embassy in Beijing and Consulate General in Shanghai will no longer accept any visa applications on private passports, private passport holders should submit their visa applications to the South Africa Visa Application Centre in Beijing and Shanghai. Diplomatic and official visa applications can be submitted to the South African Embassy and Consulate.

    The unabridged birth certificate will come into effect from 1 October 2014.

    1. Where parents are travelling with a child, such parents must produce an unabridged birth certificate of the child reflecting the particulars of the parents of the child.
    2. In the case of one parent travelling with a child, he or she must produce an unabridged birth certificate and-

      1. consent in the form of an affidavit from the other parent registered as a parent on the birth certificate of the child authorising him or her to enter into or depart from the Republic with the child he or she is travelling with;
      2. a court order granting full parental responsibilities and rights or legal guardianship in respect of the child, if he or she is the parent or legal guardian of the child;
      3. where applicable, a death certificate of the other parent registered as a parent of the child on the birth certificate;

        Provided that the Director-General may, where the parents of the child are both deceased and the child is travelling with a relative or another person related to him or her or his or her parents, approve such a person to enter into or depart from the Republic with such a child.

    3. Where a person is travelling with a child who is not his or her biological child, he or she must produce-

      1. a copy of the unabridged birth certificate of the child;
      2. an affidavit from the parents or legal guardian of the child confirming that he or she has permission to travel with the child;
      3. copies of the identity documents or passports of the parents or legal guardian of the child; and
      4. the contact details of the parents or legal guardian of the child,

        Provided that the Director-General may, where the parents of the child are both deceased and the child is travelling with a relative or another person related to him or her or his or her parents, approve such a person to enter into or depart from the Republic with such a child.

    4. Any unaccompanied minor shall produce to the immigration officer-

      1. proof of consent from one of or both his or her parents or legal guardian, as the case may be, in the form of a letter or affidavit for the child to travel into or depart from the Republic: Provided that in the case where one parent provides proof of consent, that parent must also provide a copy of a court order issued to him or her in terms of which he or she has been granted full parental responsibilities and rights in respect of the child;
      2. a letter from the person who is to receive the child in the Republic, containing his or her residential address and contact details in the Republic where the child will be residing;
      3. a copy of the identity document or valid passport and visa or permanent residence permit of the person who is to receive the child in the Republic;
      4. the contact details of the parents or legal guardian of the child.

    Effective 1 June 2014, as per the Immigration Act, 2002 incorporating 2007 and 2010 Amendments 2 April 2012, all applicants submitting applications for South Africa visa need to come in person at the South Africa visa application centre in Beijing and Shanghai– . Facility to mail-in / courier your application to the visa application centre will no longer be available.

    About section 11(2):

    1. Authorisation letters are no longer issued by Head Office. A DHA transferred official or DIRCO official can approve the request.
    2. Visa restricted foreigners must apply for a visa, comply with the normal visa requirements and in addition submit the letter seeking authorisation to conduct work. The Mission must then issue a visa with the section 11(2) authorisation endorsed on it. The visa restricted foreigner must travel with letters from both companies and produce same to an immigration officer at a port of entry

    Being requested by South African Embassy, South Africa Visa Application Centre (Beijing, Shanghai) will no longer accept applications from other jurisdiction from 28 May 2012 except ADS group. ADS group will be stopped from 1 June 2012. Applicants who reside or work in other jurisdiction should provide the following documents :

    Recent 6 months salary or pension bank account statement

    • Guarantee letter from employer which includes company's physical address and telephone No.
    • Notarized Business license with English translation
    • Temporary Residence Permit with copy

    Notice for Immigration Directive 29 of 2011:

    Please note that the following requirements relating to section 11-2 application have been added according to the Immigration Directive 29 of 2011 received from Department of Home Affairs on 13 December 2011, where the person is going to be doing short term work in Republic of South Africa using the visa, instead of applying for work permit:

    The applicant’s employer to explain, in writing, why a standard work permit is not applied for.

    Reasons must also be provided why the limited work envisaged is urgent and necessary.

    Furthermore, the applicant’s employer in China and the South African company requiring the short term work must give undertakings that they will not apply for extension of the visa or a change of condition. The visa should then be endorsed: “Not to apply for extension/change of condition”

    Official Notice: This is to inform all applicants that the South Africa Visa Application Centre in Beijing will start accepting applications for Short Term visas from 1 March 2011 onwards. The South Africa Visa Application Centre in Shanghai will start accepting applications from 4 March 2011.
