  • Dear Applicants, due to Temporary Restriction on Non-Essential Travel to the EU which aims to halt the spreading of the COVID-19, also the German Visa Application Centers in Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Shenyang will be closed starting from 30 March 2020 until further notice. For urgent cases please kindly contact the German Embassy or the German Consulate-General directly.

    From 30 March 2020, the German Visa Application Center in Shanghai will only open each Monday and Thursday from 8:00 hrs to 12:00 hrs, please plan to submit your application only on these days.

  • Dear Applicants, due to Temporary Restriction on Non-Essential Travel to the EU which aims to halt the further spreading of the COVID-19, currently German Visa Application Centers will temporarily stop accepting applications of non-essential travel to Germany until further notice.

    The following applicants may be exempted from travel restriction and might still be eligible on visa application submission.

    • Family members of EU citizens and citizens of the Schengen Associated States for the purpose of returning to Germany
    • Healthcare professionals, health researchers, and elderly care professionals
    • Frontier workers
    • Transport personnel engaged in haulage of goods and other transport staff to the extent necessary
    • Diplomats, staff of international organizations, military personnel and humanitarian aid  workers in the exercise of their functions
    • Passengers in transit
    • Passengers travelling for imperative family reasons
    • Persons in need of international protection or for other humanitarian reasons

    Therefore 9 German Visa Application Centers (Jinan, Xi’an, Changsha, Chongqing, Kunming, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Fuzhou and Shenzhen) will be temporarily closed starting from 23rd March 2020 until further notice.

  • Dear Applicants, due to the NCP situation in China and to further minimize direct contact between applicants, for the time being the German Embassy in Beijing and the German Consulates-General in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Shenyang will accept postal applications for all visa categories if applicants have provided fingerprint data in the past 59 months (after 12 October 2015).

  • Dear applicants, due to the NCP situation in China, Visa Application Center buildings management will follow local authorities’ special regulations on whether applicants from other cities can be allowed to enter the building.   • Increased fees for visa applications

    Please note: As of 02 February 2020 the Schengen visa fee per person (Short Stay Visa) will increase from 60 to 80 euros or the equivalent amount in your local currency. For children between 06-12 years old the visa fee will increase to 40 euros or equivalent.

  • Wuhan Visa Application Centre closure from 23 January 2020 - Information for customers planning to visit our Wuhan Visa Application Centre

    Customers are advised that the Germany Visa Application Centre in Wuhan have been closed since 23 January 2020, on account of official notice from the Pneumonia Epidemic Control Headquarters of Wuhan to limit inflow and outflow of people and reduce the spread of the virus.

    Customers who come to collect their passports on 23 January 2020 will need to come when the VAC reopens.

    The reopening will be scheduled for after Chinese New Year, and will be announced separately according to the official notice from the Pneumonia Epidemic Control Headquarters of Wuhan. Please contact info.germancn@vfshelpline.com for any inquiry.
